Nearly 90 percent of respondents in a survey are in favor of China's domestic independent-brand automobiles for governmental use, China Youth Daily reported Tuesday.
The online survey, released last week, of 4,493 people by the China Youth Daily Social Investigation Center, also showed that 60.4 percent believe government cars should not be luxurious, and 60 percent believe they should be low emission.
A new draft of the vehicle procurement catalog for government departments was released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Feb 24. Of the 400 models listed in the catalog, most are Chinese-made cars.
However, 94.6 percent of respondents thought that foreign goods are more favored by government.
