A lawyer in Jilin province, Xiu Bao, has helped more than 30,000 laid-off workers recover more than 200 million yuan ($31.72 million) of compensation in the last 20 years.
In 2004, he offered free legal aid to 68 farmers; in 2007, he worked as a lawyer for 129 proprietors and mortgaged his own company's property ownership. There are many other similar cases in his career.
He has in all donated over 300, 000 yuan for charity.
"If every lawyer can spare a little time to help disadvantaged groups, society will be more harmonious," he said.
