TAIYUAN - Seven workers have been confirmed dead as of Monday morning after the roof of their coal mine collapsed Sunday in the northern province of Shanxi, local authorities said.
The accident occurred Sunday noon in a shaft of the Beiyu Coal Mine in Puxian county in the city of Linfen, trapping the seven who were then checking the shaft.
By 10:20 am Monday, rescuers have pulled out all the trapped workers' bodies, said a statement from the city government.
Beiyu Coal Mine is a legally-run coal mine owned by Shanxi Puxian County Hongyuan Group.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
