Media encouraged to make China heard

BEIJING - Media organizations are encouraged to improve their ability to make China's voice better heard in the international community, according to a national meeting ended on Thursday in Beijing.
The two-day meeting reviewed progress China made in international publicity in 2011 in areas such as promotion of Chinese culture, and set tasks for 2012.
Media organizations in China are also advised to prepare coverage of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and of China's policy in adhering to a course of peaceful development and promoting the establishment of a harmonious world, according to the meeting.
Wang Chen, minister of the State Council Information Office, also asked media organizations to better carry forward Chinese culture to the world.
