BEIJING - A strong cold snap will bring temperature down in central and east China in the coming week, with some regions to see snows and heavy rains, weather authorities said Sunday.

Temperature will fall by six to eight degrees Celsius in most of north and central China and by 10 to 12 degrees Celsius in the eastern part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northeast China and the northern part of north China, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said Sunday on its website.

Combining with a warm, moist air current, the cold snap will bring rains and snows to most of central and east China from Monday to Saturday, the NMC said.

It forecast sleets and snows in the southern part of north China as well as the western and northern parts of regions along the Yellow River and the Huaihe River, noting that some of those areas would see moderate and heavy snows.

Light fog will reduce visibility to within 1,000 meters in parts of central and east China on Sunday morning, the NMC said.
