China wants to install enough rooftop panels by 2015 to reach a maximum capacity of 300,000 kW, a tenfold increase of its current capacity, China Securities Journal reported.
The goal is included in the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) for renewable energy, which is expected to be released soon by the State Council.
China will produce a maximum capacity of 10 million kW in overall solar power by 2015 and 50 million kW by 2020, according to the plan.
With the large-scale construction of solar power stations, private companies developing solar power products will embrace more opportunities in an industry dominated by State-owned enterprises, according to analysts.
