Japanese Ambassador to China Uichiro Niwa called for strengthening Japan-China relations with courage and determination.
At the Beijing-Tokyo Forum in Beijing, the ambassador remembered a famous Chinese saying, "Peace is valuable, and fight costs heavily," while emphasizing the importance of increasing exchanges between Japan and China.
He said deepening friendship between Japan and China requires the exchange of hearts, and trust between the nations is significant to economic growth.
One principle in building trust between the nations is to think from the other people's perspective, said the ambassador.
"In the past year, we had problems with the Diaoyu Islands and the earthquake in Japan. After all that, we should further promote friendship between China and Japan."
Uichiro Niwa just returned from Tibet and plans to visit other places in China, in hopes of better understanding the culture.
