Chinese military chief leaves for three-nation trip

BEIJING - Chen Bingde, chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China, left here Wednesday for an official good-will visit to Russia, Ukraine and Israel.

During the visit, Chen will exchange views with the governmental and military leadership of the three countries on issues such as bilateral military ties,  and international and regional security situation.

Chen will visit to relevant military units during the three-nation tour.

According to the Defense Ministry, the visit is aimed at enhancing understanding, friendship and cooperation between the armies of China and the three countries.

Chen made the visit at the invitation of Russian Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Defense Minister Nikolai Makarov, Ukrainian Chief of the General Staff  Hryhoriy Pedchenko and Israeli Chief of the General Staff Benny Gantz.
