Rain-triggered landslide buries five in NW China

XI'AN - Five people are buried after a landslide caused by continuous rains covered a section of highway in northwestern Shaanxi province, according to local authorities.

Rescuers are racing to save them, said a spokesman with the provincial emergency management bureau. Another three people had been saved from the accident.

The landslide occurred around 10:40 am when about 5,000 cubic meters of debris came down over the highway in Lueyang County in the city of Hanzhong.
