China, Ukraine sign deals worth $3.5 billion

KIEV - China and Ukraine signed deals worth $3.5 billion on Monday during Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to the former Soviet republic, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich said.

"According to our estimates, the financial value of agreements, projects and contracts signed during the visit is about $3.5 billion," he told reporters after meeting Hu.

The deals cover industrial, energy, infrastructure and agricultural sectors, he said.

Hu's visit to Ukraine was the last leg of a European tour in which the Chinese leader also visited Kazakhstan and Russia.
