Planking craze excites NE city

A man planks on a trash can in Shenyang, Northeast China's Liaoning province, May 31, 2011. Planking, or the lying down game, is an activity where a participant lies face down in an unusual or incongruous spot, such as atop a washing machine, a sign or a railing, with both hands touching the sides of their body. An integral part of the game is having a photo taken and posted on the Internet. "The game can relieve pressure and relax one's body," said one planker. A planking prank in Australia resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man, who fell from a seventh-floor balcony, and advocates of the game urge participants to be smart but creative in their choice of planking spot.
