A boy in Le'an county, Jiangxi province, who refused to speak until he was 5, is described by doctors as a gifted child.

Zhan Jun, born in November 2005, did not start speaking until August 2010. But once he started to speak, he quickly showed interest in reading books and newspapers.

On May 12, he impressed testers by reading a random paragraph chosen from a newspaper. He recognized most of the words, though did not understand all their meanings.

Zhan Yifang, head of the people's hospital in the county, said the boy is a gifted child with great potential.
