Tibetan singer heads home to help cataract sufferers

Famous Tibetan singer Han Hong will go to her hometown of Qamdo, in the Tibet autonomous region, with a group of eye doctors from Zhejiang province, for a charity event in aid of local cataract patients. An opening ceremony, to kick-off the charity event, was held on May 17, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province.
Patients in need will receive free cataract surgery and the visiting oculists will train their local colleagues on cataract treatment.
Han Hong said that in the Tibet autonomous region many people lose their sight due to poor medical conditions and called for more people to care for cataract patients.
