Wen meets with Indonesian parliament speaker

JAKARTA - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with Indonesian Speaker of the House of Representatives Marzuki Alie here on Saturday.

Wen told Marzuki that he had an extensive exchange of views with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on comprehensively deepening pragmatic cooperation in various fields between the two countries, adding the talks were "very fruitful."

He said the Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Indonesian side to promote mutually beneficial cooperation and continue to advance the bilateral relations.

Wen expressed the hope that the two countries' parliaments can strengthen exchanges so as to contribute more to the China-Indonesia relationship.

Noting that Indonesia and China have maintained a close relationship, Marzuki promised the Indonesian parliament will play an active role in boosting the friendship and pragmatic cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

Later on Saturday, Premier Wen left Jakarta for home after concluding his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
