Electronic information fixed-asset investment up 82.4% in Q1

Fixed-asset investment in the electronic information industry has continued last year's booming trend into the first quarter of 2011. The industry has continued expanding its investment scale and increasing new fixed-asset investments, the China Securities Journal reported Wednesday, citing the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Investment of electronic information projects with a total fixed-asset investment of 5 million yuan or more reached 144 billion yuan within the first three months of the year, up 82.4 percent year-on-year. The growth rate is 53.6 percentage points higher than the same period of last year.

The number of electronic information projects which began construction during the first quarter stood at 1,414, an increase of 44.3 percent from the same period of last year, according to the report.
