Forest fire breaks out in North China

SHIJIAZHUANG - Forest fire broke out Tuesday noon in North China's Hebei Province, with over 2,000 mu (133.33 hectares)of forest catching fire, local authorities said Wednesday.

The fire broke out at the border area of Qinhuangdao City's Funing County and Qinglong County, said a spokesman with Funing County government.

As of 5:00 am Wednesday, more than 7,550 police, soldiers, officials and fire fighters were striving to extinguish the fire. Three helicopters were also mobilized to join the effort.

Relocation of nearby villagers is underway.
