XINING - A fire broke out at a large shopping mall in Xining, capital city of Qinghai province at around 3 pm Saturday.

XINING - One woman was killed after a fire broke out at a large shopping mall in downtown Xining City, capital of Northwest China's Qinghai province at about 3 pm Saturday, local authorities said.

Another 15 people were rescued and sent to the hospital. No more people were found in the building, said Wang Yanming, spokesman for the Xining municipal government.

Doctors say 12 people were injured, mostly from inhalation of smoke. The injured are in stable conditions.

Firefighters are still working to put out the fire. Residents of a nearby building have been evacuated.

The cause of the fire is not immediately known.
