Chinese billionaire Chen Guangbiao will donate 200,000 yuan (US$30,413) to earthquake victims in Southwest China’s Yunnan province, Chen told China Daily website in an exclusive interview Thursday.
At least 14 people were killed and 135 others injured after the 5.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Yingjiang county at 12:58 am Beijing Time March 10.
Chen is one of the mainland's most prominent philanthropists. To date, the entrepreneur has donated 1.4 billion yuan to charity, which makes him the country's top philanthropist.
Chen caught the public eye when he brought 60 heavy-duty vehicles and more than 100 machine operators to Sichuan’s earthquake zone a day after the temblor struck in 2008.
