The authorities have begun a research on the dissolution volume of BPA in baby bottles so as to assess its impact on the infants' health, said Li Ning, deputy director of the nutrition and food safety institute under the Chinese Center of Disease Control and Prevention Center.

Last month, the Ministry of Health issued a draft list of legal substance in food packages at its official website to solicit public opinions.

According to the draft, BPA was banned from using in vessels having direct contacts with baby food.

The Europe Union will ban the use of BPA in baby bottles as from June 1.

The European Food Safety Authority found in last September that BPA is safe up to a daily intake of 0.05 milligrams per kilo of bodyweight, but it also raised some questions with respect to the possible impact of the chemical on infants.
