A dance school in Jinan, Shandong province, has started fining students 10 yuan ($1.5) for every 0.5 kg they put on.

Students said most of them have to pay the fine on Mondays, as they inevitably gain half a kg during the weekend.

The students' parents have complained that their wards have stopped eating proper food and are filling their stomachs only with fruit and salad.
