The city of Manzhouli, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is a border city between China and Russia. Many goods from Russia are first brought to the Manzhouli export-import port and then transported to destinations all over China.
An international freight yard with a designed transshipment capacity of 40 million tons is being built in Manzhouli and is expected to be operational by 2015. A total of 4.6 billion yuan ($747.5 million) has been invested in the yard, which will have designated areas for shipping containers, coking coal, iron ore and cars.
