Uber is available on weekdays in Beijing except between the hours of 2 am and 6 am, the company said. As a leading brand in this sector, Uber has been making deals right and left.
Last July, it closed a $268 million funding deal with Google Venture and Texas Pacific Group. Last month, it closed another $1.4 billion funding deal with multiple investors from around the globe.
Kalanick said Uber has no plans to go public. "If you can raise billions as a private company, it gives you the option to remain a private company."
Du Yangyang, public relations director of YongChe, the largest car-calling service in China, said it is good that Uber has entered more Chinese cities.
"Since 2010, Yongche has been the only operator in this sector, and we welcome competition. Uber's entry means the Chinese market is getting bigger and more attractive to international companies," Du said.
Established in 2010, Yongche is now in 74 Chinese cities and offers car services 24 hours a day.
