WARSAW -- A business delegation from China's eastern city Qingdao visited Warsaw on Monday to promote cooperation in energy, machinery, IT and telecommunication, among other fields.

"When we invited our friends from Qingdao, we primarily took into account the complementarity between the city's economy and the interests of Polish entrepreneurs," said Slawomir Majman, head of the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ), during the meeting of Polish and Chinese businesses held in the capital city of Poland.

The Chinese delegation, including Qingdao's prominent companies: white goods maker Haier, electronics producer Hisense and beer maker Tsingtao Brewery, represented the sectors of construction, real estate, electronics, white goods, refrigeration appliances, steel, decorative products and energy management in the city, aimed to find partners for their IT solutions, automotive parts, textiles, footwear, health products, biotechnology and cosmetics at the meeting.

"We can see great potential for investment cooperation and we will try to support such cooperation," said Majman.

Polish companies invested $12.8 million in 11 projects in Qingdao by December 2013, including investments in mining machinery, fertilisers and windows, according to Chinese data.

Poland's trade with the Qingdao amounted to $380 million in 2013, including $302 million in imports from the Chinese city.

"We will expand our cooperation in different fields, for example in the area of infrastructure, energy and medicine," said Li Qun, a member of the Chinese delegation.
