Buildings outside Foxconn's Longhua factory have been nicknamed "hand-holding buildings" by the workers because there is hardly any space between them. According to a Foxconn employee, the densely constructed buildings that the locals rent to Foxconn workers were constructed this way because the developers wanted to exploit all the available space.
There are about 160,000 employees in Longhua factory, and a big part of them choose to rent places outside the factory instead of living in the dorms inside.
