Chow Sang Sang Group, a leading Hong Kong-based jeweler, opened a production center in Foshan, Guangdong province, on March 21 to boost its presence on the Chinese mainland.

"We are confident of a booming jewelry market on the mainland in the future," Chow Sang Sang Executive Director Chow Wing Shing said.

The complex, which combines design, research, production and e-commerce, will help the Hong Kong company maintain a sustainable business growth in the mainland jewelry market, Chow said.

The center, with an investment of up to $20 million, features a number of high-tech and environmentally friendly facilities to upgrade its production lines.

Following the operation of the production center, Chow Sang Sang, which currently has 296 retail stores on the mainland, will expand its sales network in the near future to meet the growing demand for high-quality jewelry, Chow said.
