China's Commerce Ministry spokesman Shen Danyang told reporters on Tuesday that the China-United States bilateral investment treaty, once established, will provide Chinese investment in the US with respect under international law.
The 11th round of negotiations on the treaty was held in Shanghai in January and covered procedural issues. The 12th round talks were held in Washington D.C. in early March.
Shen added that the two rounds generally went smoothly.
He noted that the treaty talks provided China with a good chance to improve its foreign investment regulation mechanisms as well as to strengthen protection of its overseas investments.
