GM sets September sales record in China

CHICAGO - General Motors Co (GM) and its joint ventures sold 277,647 vehicles in China last month, up 13.7 percent year on year and setting a record for September sales, said the company in a news release posted at its website Thursday.
Five brands of the US automaker -- Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Wuling and Baojun -- all posted sales growth of varying proportions year on year in September. To be specific, Wuling sales totaled 129,648 units in the past month, up 18.4 percent; Buick sales came to 71,002 units, up 14.3 percent; Chevrolet sales came in at 57,285 units, up 2 percent; Baojun sales stood at 10, 028 units, up 9.6 percent; and Cadillac sales hit 4,496 units, up 73.9 percent.
GM's auto sales in China hit a record of 2.31 million units in the first nine months of the year, up 11.1 percent year on year.
