London Lord Mayor leads City delegation to China

LONDON -- A leading City business delegation will join the Lord Mayor of the City of London as he embarks on a visit to China and Mongolia between 15 and 23 September, the City of London Corporation announced on Thursday, September 5, 2013.

The Lord Mayor, Alderman Roger Gifford, will pay an official visit to Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong to further the close ties that have been developed between the City of London, these cities and China as a whole. He will also promote the UK as the top global destination for foreign investment.

Roger Gifford said: "China is the world's second largest economy and is a steadily growing market that UK-based firms are keen to explore further. The UK and the City of London wants to work with this global economic powerhouse by mobilising the two-way flow of capital, knowledge and ideas.

"The partnership between the UK and China can continue to drive growth and prosperity in both countries. I look forward to this visit finding new opportunities for trade and investment for Chinese and UK firms. " he added.
