China's national quality watchdog announced that Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Trading (Shanghai) Co decided to recall 11,852 faulty imported cars.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said the cars include 2,096 units of Jaguar XF, produced from July 24, 2012, to May 1, 2013, and 1,100 units of Jaguar XJ produced from March 20, 2012, to May 2, 2013.

The wrong positioning of flexible hose and joint hose clamp occurred in the process of manufacturing and intercooler assembly, which can make the joint hose clamp impossible to reach, leading to the departure of joints in the intercooler assembly when driving, which can bring about flame-outs without warning and increase the possibility of crashes.

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Trading (Shanghai) Co said it will inspect the vehicles for free to make sure the hose clamp is in the proper position and fastened in the right torsion.

Land Rover Freelander 2 and Evoque, which were produced from Jan 3, 2012, to June 25, 2013, are also on the recall list. Land Rover has 8,656 SUVs involved in China, including 8,321 units of Freelander 2 and 335 of Evoque.

The fault in design and manufacture is known to cause oil leakages in the joint of effusion oil rail and oil return tube in oil atomizer of the cars on the recall list. Oil will be accumulated and even leak out of the cylinder and land, increasing the risk of slippage. If oil touches high temperature surfaces like the exhaust system, it would probably cause a fire inside the hood.

Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Trading will inspect for free the faulty cars' oil atomizers. The cap on the oil atomizer will be changed, and the new modified effusion oil rail assembly will be installed for safety.
