MINSK - Belarus will buy 18 more Chinese electric locomotives, the press service of the railway operator Belarusian Railways said on Wednesday.
The Belarusian railway operator will buy another batch of Chinese electric locomotives in line with the contracts signed with China Machinery and Electric Equipment Import and Export Company during the official visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Beijing from Monday to Wednesday.
According to the press service, the contracts worth over $116.9 million provide for the purchasing of 18 one-section electric locomotives and also envisage the delivery of spare parts and materials for the maintenance of the new rolling stock.
It is not the first purchase of Chinese locomotives by Belarus. Nine BKG1 locomotives are in use already, while another three are in experimental service.
