Netherlands-based Royal Dutch Shell topped this year's Fortune 500 with revenues over $481.7 billion in 2012.
Shell was followed by Wal-Mart and Exxon Mobil, both American corporations, according to the list for 2013 released on July 8.
The list includes 95 Chinese companies, including those from Hong Kong and Taiwan. China now has more Fortune 500 companies than any country in the world, other than the United States.
Three Chinese corporations entered this year's top 10, including Sinopec Group (4th), China National Petroleum Corp (5th) and State Grid Corp of China (7th).
The Fortune Global 500 list this year included companies with a minimum revenue of $23.2 billion, 1.2 million more than the 2012 figure. Combined, the companies' revenues totaled $30,30 trillion, 2.77 percent more than last year's revenues. Total profits, however, were down by about $100 billion.
The Fortune Global 500 ranks the world's companies by revenue.
