China stock index futures close higher

BEIJING -- China's stock index futures closed higher on Monday, with the contract for July 2013, the most actively traded, gained 0.88 percent to 2163.4 points.

The August contract climbed 0.69 percent to 2,159.0 points. The September contract added 0.60 percent to 2,163.4 points, while the December contract closed 0.77 percent higher to 2,183.4 points.

The stock-index contracts, agreements to buy or sell the Hushen 300 Index at a preset value on an agreed date, are designed to allow investors to bet on and profit from either gains or declines in the market.

The index futures was launched at the China Financial Futures Exchange (CFFEX) and started trading from April 16, 2010. The CFFEX has set the base value for all the four contracts at 3,399 points.
