Li Yong, born in 1951 in Jining, Shandong province, has been working as vice-minister of finance and has been a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Chinese central bank since 2003.
He has been extensively involved in setting and harmonizing fiscal, monetary and industrial policies, supporting sound economic growth in China. He has pushed forward financial sector reform, trying to avoid potential systemic risks in China's financial system.
Li is also an active participant in the international arena. He has played a key role in China's cooperation with multilateral development organizations, such as the World Bank Group and the Asian Development Bank since the 1980s, calling upon the international community for equal partnership and stronger financial support.
He has written books and articles on a wide range of topics including macroeconomic policy, inclusive growth, green development, and fiscal and financial reforms.
