The cargo throughput of Panjin Port, Liaoning province, will exceed 40 million metric tons this year, Liaoning Daily reported on Friday.
The port also plans to build six more 50,000-ton berths this year. The port in Liaodong Bay is a dedicated port for shipping liquid chemicals, chemical raw materials and large-scale equipment.
Panjin aims to become an international shipping hub and logistics center in Northeast China, with a capacity of 100 million tons by 2015.
