Central SOEs donate $48.6m to quake-hit area

Central State-owned enterprises have accumulatively donated more than 300 million yuan ($48.6 million) to the earthquake-hit area in Ya’an, Sichuan province, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission said on Thursday.
The second round of the 118 central SOE’s donation ceremony was held in Beijing, during which Huang Shuhe, deputy-director of the SASAC said that central SOEs in industries including telecommunications, power and petroleum have rushed to the stricken area to repair damaged facilities, provide oil products, and food supplies.
"By Wednesday, 49 central SOEs and more than 200 of their subsidiaries joined the earthquake relief task at the forefront, bringing more than 8,000 technical engineers and rescuers to the disaster area,” Huang said.
On the donation ceremony, China National Petroleum Corp and Sinopec donated 10 million yuan each to the disaster area.
