After an 85-minute flight, a China Eastern Airlines A320 aircraft touched down at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 7:08 am, marking a successful test flight using palm oil biofuel developed in China.
The fuel used during this flight was developed by China Petroleum and Chemical Corp, or Sinopec, Asia's top refiner.
"We developed two kinds of biofuel, palm oil and waste cooking oil. The fuel we used during this flight was palm oil," Huang Zhongwen, deputy director of the publicity department at Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Co told China Daily.
Flight captain Liu Zhimin carried out some extreme high-altitude maneuvers to test the fuel's stability.
