JAKARTA - OPPO, a China-based electronics manufacturer, unveiled its flagship smartphone Find 5 Wednesday, pricing the device at 5,490,000 rupiah ($566).
OPPO Find 5, running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operation system, comes with a 5-inch full HD 1080p display and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. The phone also offers a 13 megapixel primary camera with high-speed 120fps video recording lens and a front-facing 1.9 megapixel shooter for video-chats.
"OPPO Find 5 has all features you need to fulfill your everyday needs, be it work or entertainment," Jet Lee, CEO of PT. Indonesia OPPO Electronics, a local unit of OPPO, said when opening the launching ceremony.
OPPO's Find 5 launch aims at gaining a slice of cake in the smartphone market of Indonesia, a key emerging market with 240 million people.
"Indonesia's market is very diverse and dynamic," Lee said, added that OPPO will continue to be committed to offer the best and most suitable products for Indonesian people.
Indonesia, Southeast Asia's largest economy, has been experiencing strong economic growth over the past few years which had turned middle-class households richer.
However, Find 5 will have to face severe competition from Samsung's Galaxy Android smartphone series whose share has surged from only 2 percent in 2010 to close to 50 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012.
OPPO is an electronics manufacturer making MP3 players, portable media players, LCD TVs, DVD players and mobile phones. Headquartered in Dongguan city of South China's Guangdong province, the company entered the mobile market in 2008.
