China, US vow enhanced co-op in clean energy

BEIJING - Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi and visiting US Secretary of State John Kerry on Saturday vowed to deepen China-US cooperation in clean energy.
Yang and Kerry attended a China-US energy cooperation seminar in Beijing Saturday evening.
As the world's top energy producers and consumers, China and the US share broad common interests in the fields of clean energy, energy conservation and environmental protection, Yang addressed the meeting.
During Kerry's visit, China and the US reached broad consensus on deepening bilateral cooperation in these areas, he said, urging both sides to make contributions to world energy safety and coping with climate changes.
Kerry suggested that the two sides should enhance dialogue and deepen cooperation in clean energy, so as to promote energy conservation globally and create more opportunities for business and employment.
After the seminar, Yang had a meeting with Kerry at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.
Yang urged the two sides to strengthen dialogue, increase mutual trust, expand cooperation and manage their disparities, so as to ensure the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties.
Yang said, during Kerry's visit, the two sides reaffirmed the consensus of building cooperative partnership and exploring the new type of inter-power relationship.
He called on the two sides to turn the consensus of top leaders as well as the results of this visit into concrete actions, so as to benefit the two peoples.
Kerry said the US attaches great importance to China's propositions on promoting bilateral cooperative partnership and exploring the new model of relationship.
The US is willing to work with China to enhance high-level exchanges,strengthen dialogue and mutual trust, expand cooperation in economic and trade, environmental protection and combating climate change, and beef up coordination in international and regional affairs, he said.
