China Merchants Bank 2012 net profits rise 25%

BEIJING -- China Merchants Bank, the country's fifth largest bank by market value, said on Thursday that its net profits increased 25.31 percent year on year to 45.27 billion yuan ($7.22 billion) in 2012.
The company's net interest income gained 15.81 percent from one year earlier to 88.37 billion yuan, while revenues from other sources rose 25.91 percent to 24.99 billion yuan, the bank said in a statement filed to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The value of the lender's total assets amounted to 3.41 trillion yuan, an increase of 21.94 percent from a year earlier.
Its non-performing loan ratio went up 0.05 percentage points to 0.61 percent as of the end of 2012, while its capital adequacy ratio came in at 12.14 percent, 0.61 percentage points higher from 2011, the statement said.
