Youku Tudou Inc, China’s largest online television company, announced a partnership deal on Wednesday to show TV series from Television Broadcasts Ltd, a major Hong Kong broadcaster.
The two-year deal will enable Youku Tudou to stream more than 2,500 hours of TV shows from TVB, the oldest wireless commercial TV station in Hong Kong.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Programs produced by TVB will be available on Youku Tudou’s website and to mobile viewers, said the Beijing-based company.
Youku Tudou said its daily video views from mobile devices reached more than 100 million by the end of last year.
The deal was the latest move from Youku Tudou to import original overseas film and TV content.
The company’s existing partners include the BBC, United States cable network AMC and Seoul-based Korean Munhwa Broadcasting Corp.
