Bank of China's chairman Xiao Gang resigns

BEIJING -- Xiao Gang, chairman of Bank of China, resigned on Sunday, said a statement on the lender's website.
"Due to the necessity of the country's financial work," Xiao had handed in his resignation which turned effective on Sunday, the statement said.
