Chinese urban white collars plan to have 6.9 travels this year on average, the highest among Asia-Pacific countries and regions, according to a survey by Travelzoo Inc, a Nasdaq-listed?online travel deals company.
These Chinese tourists plan to spend $7,117 on their travels this year, which is second only to their Australian counterparts, according to the survey.
The survey covered about 10,000 tourists on the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and Japan. About one-third of the participants are from the Chinese mainland, mainly white collars in big cities.
Short trips lasting around three days are becoming more popular among the participants as travels during long holidays are usually crowded and much more expensive than normal days, said Hong Wei, president of Travelzoo's China branch.
The surveyed participants on the Chinese mainland plan to have 4.3 short trips this year, which is the most among all Asia-Pacific countries and regions, with Hong Kong ranked second with 3 planned short trips, according to the survey.
Travelzoo has 26 million subscribers globally and about 1 million on the Chinese mainland.
