French retail giant Carrefour SA launched a nutrition campaign on Thursday in Beijing, in a bid to make Chinese consumers more aware of healthier choices and foster the development of the Chinese food industry.
The activity, under the theme Understand Nutrition Labels, Enjoy a Healthy Life, is seeing Carrefour join hands with other multinational companies such as Nestle, the China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corporation and Wyeth, to encourage food producers to put nutrition labels on packages and help consumers to understand the content of the labels.
Carrefour stores in China invited nutrition experts, shared label information with customers and provided them with nutrition consultations.
