Profit and production eases in China's furniture industry

Major products in China's furniture industry saw production drop 2.4 percent year-on-year in 2012, compared with a 2.6 percent decline in the previous year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Feb 7.
Turnover in the furniture industry rose 13.8 percent year-on-year in 2012, compared with a 1.1 percent decrease in the previous. Profits increased 19.4 percent year-on-year in 2012, compared with 45.1 percent growth in the previous year, the ministry said.
Major furniture products saw export growth slow in 2012. Exports of wood furniture rose 8.8 percent year-on-year in 2012, compared with 10.2 percent growth in the previous year. Metal furniture saw exports edge up 0.8 percent year-on-year while plastic furniture saw exports increase 17 percent year-on-year, compared with 21.5 percent growth in the previous year.
