Moves taken by the Chinese government

May 2010: the National Development and Reform Commission announced it strongly supports the nation's high-tech services including cloud computing, the Internet of Things and Internet application sectors.
Oct 2010: The State Council pledged to support the growth of emerging industries that are critical for the nation's development strategy. Cloud computing, mobile Internet and some other IT services were listed.
Oct 2010: The government named five pilot cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, to test cloud-based services.
March 2011: The government's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15) has a clear-cut policy to support the nation's IT and other emerging industries.
July 2011: The Ministry of Science and Technology said China will build self-developed cloud-computing technology during the 12th Five-Year Plan period.
