Volkswagen voluntarily recalled its products from Taiwan consumers on Dec 27, 2012 because of Direct-Shift Gearbox problems, China Youth Daily reported Thursday.
However, the case has been different for customers in the Chinese mainland. The report quoted an executive of Volkswagen as saying that "Compared with after-sales service, to make a recall is more convenient for the execution as the procedure is more simplified than that of after-sale service. But after we submitted our plans, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that we need not take recall measures."
Volkswagen in North America and Germany has voluntarily recalled its DSG.
Over the past two years, a growing number of consumers have complained about abnormal sounds, shakes, and delays in the DSG of Volkswagen vehicles. Volkswagen announced an extended warranty program last week to address the concerns.
