China strives to develop green economy

Chinese policymakers are striving to develop a greener economy, for more sustainable growth. The comment was made at a meeting of the executive State Council, chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao.
Attendees discussed and approved the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) for developing an economy that focuses on recycling, and set out major targets and measures. Minutes of the meeting note, the government will make efforts to build sustainable industrial, agricultural and service systems.
The government will also encourage all sectors and Chinese residents to foster green concepts and raise energy efficiency. Efforts will also be made to carry out model projects, create pilot cities and cultivate special sustainable companies and industrial parks. The State Council meeting also pointed out that coordinating fiscal, tax, financial and other policies are necessary to China developing this kind of sustainable economy.
