IC China, an international semiconductor show, kicked off at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Hall on Oct 23.
The three-day event is a major gathering of the semiconductor industry with more than 200 exhibitors from home and abroad.
The expo is co-sponsored by the China Semiconductor Industry Association, the CCPIT Electronics & Information Industry Sub-Council and the Shanghai Economic and Informatization Commission.
The show, with an area of 15,000 square meters, will display technologies related to integrated circuits design, chip manufacturing, as well as packaging and testing, said Cao Jianhua, vice president of the sub-council.
"It will be a stimulus to the country's IC industry," said Chen Xian, secretary general of the association.
China saw a 7.5 percent increase in IC sales in the first half of the year compared with the same period last year, reaching 85.3 billion yuan ($13.5 billion).
"The third quarter of this year is expected to still maintain a good tendency in IC sales," Chen said.
He said a summit will also be held to discuss the opportunities and challenges China will meet in developing its semiconductor industry.
