Aggreko plc, the world's largest temporary power generation company, and a major supplier of temperature control equipment, says it's planning to expand further in China, after landing a growing number of projects in the country since opening its operation in 2006.
Kelvin Lam, general manager of Aggreko in China, told China Daily that the British company is ready to grow its operation on top of the three service centers it already runs.
"Although China's economic growth rate appears to be slowing a bit, the power rental business remains very promising," said Lam.
The company's business in China is largely split into two parts: specialized industrial services to various sectors such as oil and gas, shipbuilding, petrochemicals and mining; and power supply deals with businesses of all kind。
Since entering China, Aggreko has been involved in several major industrial projects.
Those have included supplying and operating power supply to shipbuilding projects in Northeast China's Dalian, and generators, transformers, bulk fuel tanks, a control room and consumables to a major copper mine project in southwest Yunnan province.
"The concept of power rental is relatively new in China, but we believe there is great demand for it here in China," said Lam.
Some Chinese companies tend to buy their own equipment if there's shortage of power, but the capital cost can be high and firms also face the problem of having professional staff qualified in running and maintaining them.
By renting, the problem will can be efficiently-solved, said Lam.
