Macao's resident deposits up 3% in July

MACAO -- Macao's resident deposits in July increased by 3 percent from the previous month to 323.7 billion patacas ($40.53 billion), according to figures released on Wednesday by Monetary Authority of Macao.
Of the resident deposits, pataca deposits, HKD deposits and other foreign deposits increased at respective month-to-month rates of 1.3 percent, 4.7 percent and 0.1 percent, the figures indicated.
As for non-resident deposits, the value grew 1.1 percent from the previous month to 127.1 billion patacas, of which public sector deposits with local banking sector increased by 2.7 percent to 40.4 billion patacas, according to the Monetary Authority.
As a result, total deposits with the banking sector increased by 2.5 percent from the previous month to 491.2 billion patacas in July, with the shares of pataca and HKD in total deposits standing at 21.2 percent and 45.5 percent respectively.
